Who am I |
My name is Cecilia, originally from Argentina, I migrated to New Zealand in 2007 with my husband Álvaro, and two daughters Poppy and Juana.
I am passionate about children's learning and the visual arts, the diversity of art styles, movements and techniques, and the different artists. I like making art and crafts, painting, sculptures and modelling with clay. I sometimes use cement, glass, aluminium cans and junk material. I like to explore the huge range of materials available in the environment. I sew, cook, clean, do face painting, babysitting. I do floral arrangement, gardening, collect pottery and tea cups, furniture and novelty things. I've worked since 2012 in an ELC (Early Learning Centre) in Leamington, Cambridge. There, I work in the art programme 3 days a week. So, I understand the New Zealand teaching standards and early childhood curriculum. I was police vetted as part of my employment as an early childhood teacher. I also participate in professional training opportunities provided by the ELC. |
My training |
I trained as a Primary Visual Arts teacher in Argentina. I studied at the "Escuela de Arte of Balcarce" (now called "Astor Piazzola"), for four years. We learned a lot during those years.
To keep my knowledge current, I read a lot, and take vocational on-line courses (MOOCs) related to art and teaching. I've done a few courses on cooking for kids as well. One of my favourite courses was one I did about art museums and teaching, offered by The MoMa museum of modern art. |
